Like the picture, she does

You asked for it Jenna, and I apologize for leaving Holland out. Holland, when nine hundred years old you reach, look as good you will not.

Taking up Space

In response to all the "Star Wars" and space mania I thought I'd use someone else's take on the space program.

Star Wars Mania!

I was talking to Conner today and he wanted me to make a picture featuring him as Luke Skywalker. He also wanted me to create Claire as Padme. Now I'm going requests? What's next, Blake as Jabba the Hut? That's a great idea...it's in the works.

Darth Rafe

For years, Rafe was my student, I was his master. I was convinced I could train him without Yoda's help. Alas, my teachings were in vain, as he joined the Emperor and turned to the dark side. He's now more machine than man, but I can still feel the good in him.

Presenting Jedi Rafe...

After much anticipation, Rafe's premier singing Darth Vader's march is now available for your viewing enjoyment. He performed at the annual ward talent show a couple of Saturdays ago. People are still raving about his performance. It deserves and Oscar or Tony or something. I apologize for the poor quality. Apparently there was not enough light to focus correctly, so I wish you could see his face better because he had a huge smile afterwards when he looks at Jenna.

No News is Good News

For a couple of days now we have again enjoyed the world as television can give it. For a while we were on an island; we had no Internet, television, and phones that were ready to die. I did not like not knowing what was happening in the world. Finally, we got the cheapest cable we could get. So the world as we see it is 70% religious, 20% infomercials, and 10% news. Since I'm neither super religious nor a compulsive buyer, the news is my only window to the world. As we all know, the news organizations are infamous for fast reporting and little fact finding. CSPAN has thus far been my only reliable companion. Though incredibly boring, it's full of the kind of facts that don't create unnecessary anxiety typically associated with minute by minute reporting and misinformation.

Meal or no Meal

As I look back on the past week of travels across the country I can't help but realize that we are undoing what our pioneer fathers accomplished-we left Zion and went back to the Midwest to be more successful in life. We aren't the pioneers they were, everything we did was the opposite: instead of killing our own food and seeing wild animals we stopped at "Cabella's" in Nebraska and looked at dead animals and ate free crackers. Moreover, we ate enough fast-food to make Jeff sick. It should be no surprise that the kitchen was the first to be set up in our new house. We have been cooking ever since. At times, more than three meals a day. There's something reassuring about knowing what is being cooked in your food and where the hands have been that prepare it. In retrospect, I suppose we're not that far from our pioneer heritage; I love a nice home cooked meal. As a toast to the fast food industry's ability to sustain our transient America, please enjoy the following.

Blast Off!

Check out this picture I used to make a poster for my classroom. I took it to Kinko's and they blew it up (no pun intended) to 48" x 36". I'll send more pictures when I finish putting it up. Parents should be happy knowing that Microsoft Paint is now being used to influence their children.

New Mexico pics

In case you didn't know, I left for New Mexico 4 days after my wedding to pick up fireworks. Although it wasn't the smartest move on my part (insert insult here) I did have a good time. I got to see Carlsbad Caverns, the White Sands National Park, and my favorite part of the trip was visiting Roswell. Every night I prayed that the aliens would abduct me so I could spend the rest of my life recounting how the aliens probed every orifice of my body, how they sent me back because I didn't fit the 'body builder' mold they were looking for to take back to their planet, and how I was left naked, shaking and delirious on the side of some rural road out in the country. Of course, none of this happened, at least that I can remember. Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo..... (twilight zone music fades off in the background)
