No News is Good News

For a couple of days now we have again enjoyed the world as television can give it. For a while we were on an island; we had no Internet, television, and phones that were ready to die. I did not like not knowing what was happening in the world. Finally, we got the cheapest cable we could get. So the world as we see it is 70% religious, 20% infomercials, and 10% news. Since I'm neither super religious nor a compulsive buyer, the news is my only window to the world. As we all know, the news organizations are infamous for fast reporting and little fact finding. CSPAN has thus far been my only reliable companion. Though incredibly boring, it's full of the kind of facts that don't create unnecessary anxiety typically associated with minute by minute reporting and misinformation.
