April 15th typically brings a chill to the hearts of taxpayers everywhere. Today, in a show of great generosity, Mother Nature dug deep into her reservoir of resources and refunded yet another rebate of winter wonder upon our unworthy heads.
I was telling the kids at school about the water cycle, and how water comes from the Pacific Ocean through evaporation, travels upward, is driven across the nation and gives us the much needed moisture. One child, remembering that I had recently been on vacation in Hawaii, wanted to know why I didn't leave the snow there and bring something a little more suitable to the season. So much for public education.
I quickly took him outside, rolled him up into a snowball along with three of his detention buddies, stacked them on top of each other, wrapped a hula skirt around them, and added dark reflective sunglasses to complete the artistic creation. "Hawaiian Snowman 50." At least they will remember that the "50" stands for the fact that Hawaii is our 50th state. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
This is the scene in front of our house at 7:30 pm. You can hear a robin in the background asking about tickets to the tropics. Good luck with the airlines these days.

It was only like 90+ degrees here!
Dad, how quickly did you really want to get to work on the yard? I had to mow our football field yesterday and it was a pain. I'd take sleeping on the couch with a blanket pulled up to my nose any day.
Brandon, you make me so proud. I'll take the couch and a siesta any day over mowing the lawn. Getting the blanket just right under my nose is the hard part. Sleeping is an art that must be practiced with real intent. That's all for now, all this typing is making me sleepy.
