Ze snow! Ze snow!

Happy week of January 26, only a little late. We had to take our computer in to get it fixed again. Jeff, stop laughing hysterically. I accidentally deleted Word, which turned out to be a little bit of a problem. So anyway we got it up and running last night and here we are!
Things are fine and good and good and fine. Ze snow keeps coming down, the temperatures keep staying down and the wind keeps blowing, all of which keeps the children from going to school. Yesterday the schools got out early because of the winds. We haven't had this many snow days in years and it really is pretty. Cash is very suspicious however as he thinks there are many enemies outside in the snow so he barks and barks to protect us from harm. I can't count how many theives he's probably chased away.
I didn't have to go to work yesterday because dad took my outfit and I didn't think I could get out of the driveway in his little car so vacation time!!! Back to the grindstone today, but the roads are so slick that max speed is 30-35 mph. No it's not because I'm getting old. You just wait until you guys roll a car and see how it gets to you! More snow coming too.
News from Jenna, uhhhh, I can't think of any. They are actually praying for a tax return so they can finally put a yard in soon. Jeff had a brilliant assemly last week in which he cheerlead the kids to get "all jazzed up" for the reading program. Individual winners will get a bed and breakfast trip overnight. Can you believe that? You guys only got more books or maybe one of those paddle and ball things if you won. Then the kicker is that a Jazz ball player will come and speak to the kids once they've reached their goals. Of course, Jeff's class is ahead at the moment at 10,000 minutes. Woo hoo!
Brett & Tara are doing very well. Brett said his classes are easier than he thought they'd be but still time consuming. He's considering printing his own graduation announcements. How cool would that be? Tara is getting into her new job slowly and Stella says hello to all.
Brandon & Anna were under a tornado watch tonight, scary!! Brandon wasn't too frightened but we are! Remember to do like they did in Twister- - use your belts and tie yourselves to the bathroom plumbing, that should do it. I loved the blog on Granty's toys, he looks even older since Christmas!
Jason & Sara are happily studying and getting along well. The neighbors upstairs have settled down after Jason went and confronted him in a nice way. So they have been traveling and seeing some sights.
G&G Shirley are doing well, dad got this idea that his dad had a very interesting life and should be interviewed by the newspaper. So he called the Post Register and they are sending a crew over to their house on Sunday to get his life story and photog him cheering for the Patriots. Won't that be a killer? We'll get copies out to everyone as soon as we get them.
Well that is about all, the news is almost on and I must see the weather. It's been good to speak to all of you this week, keep checking in, we love it when you call! It actually gives me someone to talk to! Sorry, Scott! Love, Ma & Pa Shirley

Acting my age

I realized I am a thirtysomething. I was sure that would never happen. I was once determined to be a trendy teenager that was eternally hip. Today as I tidied up my house with Dr. Laura on the radio, it became clear to me that I have grown up. I'm not sure exactly when I exchanged Pet Shop Boys and REM for talk radio: probably about the time I decided I liked vegetables and discovered I could no longer stay awake during a movie started after 9:30. But the biggest indicator that I am not cool is actually using the word thirtysomething.

My heaven

While Jeff had all his dreams fulfilled at the Jazz game, Brandon and I got tickets to an advance screening of: It wasn't as good as the real thing but it was an amazing viewing experience. Jenna, now you can experience a U2 concert.

Heaven would have been a step down...

Ash loved the game! She loved staring at Kyle Korver... She was afraid when the bear came close to her... The Jazz actually won! It was a great game! Too bad it had to come to an end, though. I was happy for the win, but depressed that I'll probably won't get seats like these for a while.

MIdwinter Tales

Hey crew members! We have no current pictures in our camera so I just put this one in from our trip to AZ last October. What a cute little fella. I am now posting my first blog and am sa proud. Jason navigated me through it and gosh, even an 8 year old could do it. Wait, an 8 year old is doing it in the form of Conner, who is now the blog administrator for his Scoresby cousins blogspot. I hope one day to be as smart as Conner. We've had a great week. As you know we've been in the market for a different car, so Norm Erickson has been looking. I told him it had to be red and have a cream interior, so he found one in Elko, Nevawda, as the pollsters say. It doesn't have leather seats but I thought maybe I could come down a peg and accept it anyway. The problem was getting it here, so Norm asked if one of us could go get it which would really save money. The problem was how to get there, so Norm asked his boss, David Taylor, if he was going anywhere in his private plane and he said he could drop me off if I wanted to drive it home! Wow! What a journal entry! I had to say yes to that deal, so off we went and I brought it home that day. It is so pretty and I really like it. It's a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder, most all the bells and whistles and it even has cheaper monthly payments than my Envoy. We'll post a picture next week. Dad couldn't go with me because he had to take G Shirley to the doctor to take the packing out of his nose again. He is doing okay so far, he just can't ever pick his nose. But how is he going to get the crusties out? That's the question Jeff asked me when he was about 7. G Kinghorn is doing well also, it sure means a lot to them when you guys can get the time to call and check on either one. They just sit in their houses and have nothing to do but watch TV, so when someone calls it's the highlight of their day, so think about it, before I make you GO KISS YOUR AUNT OTHELLA! Jenna & Blake are suffering in the cool 68 degree weather in AZ. They can hardly go outside it's so coolish. As we look out the window at our 2 feet of snow and 20 degree weather, I can't help but think we could run around stark naked there and be totally fine! The onlookers wouldn't but what the hay. Brandon said it's been below zero there also and said it's like being in a refridgerator. Speaking of Brandon, guess who's having a birthday soon? Everyone call and shower him with gifts and money! The big 27 is coming right up for him, congratulations! He who shall remain nameless is working on a school reading even that might see one of the Jazz players coming and speaking to the kids and signing autographs, as long as they reach their reading goals. Whom do you think is more excited? Brett & Tara have not checked it but we know that Brett is buried in school work as he is graduating this year, Hooray! Also how is the new job Tara? Jason & Sara are off to accomplish some new business ventures, so we wish them success. They are also studying very hard and doing well. Cash sends his love. He's been a little distracted lately as someone in the neighborhood is (shhhh, in heat,) so he'll leave for a day and them come home and sleep 2 days and then it's back for more lovin'. What a life So we all love you. Yesterday we confirmed the trip to Hawaii. We are leaving on April 3 and will be back on the 8th. We are staying at the Outrigger Waikiki on the beach hotel, ahhhh, can't wait. Any two of you can come, if you don't mind sharing a room. Well we love you tons and tons and love it when you call us. Hope you are all doing well and surving the winter, hopefully some of you have a vacation day tomorrow and can relax a little. Dad of course, will be doing more shoveling. Be good, remember who you are and where you are going, and always do the right things! Bye for now, Ma & Pa Shirley

Use the force...Luke

In an effort to reach my potential as a Jedi, I have decided to leave my home planet of Tatooine to fight the evils of the dark side. While my journey will take me far from those I love dearly, I must sacrifice these relationships in order to restore order to the galaxy. May the force be with each of you...

Looks Like I'm Not Alone

The similarities in this article are uncanny. I remember spending a month before my mission trying to beat "Donkey Kong Country" rather than boning up on the whole mission prep thing. Although there are things about the scriptures that are still not entirely clear, at least I'll never forget the code for "Contra!" (probably because I spent so much time trying to input the code before the game started, it rarely worked). Does anyone else share similar experiences? Don't be ashamed.
